Effective November 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Rockford Area Crime Stoppers collects, uses, retains, and shares information through the Rockford Area Crime Stoppers website and mobile applications.
The mobile applications do not require an account and do not ask for your name, email address, contacts, photos, or precise location.
If you enable push notifications, the app sends the following information to our server:
We use this information only to register your device and deliver notifications about newly published fugitives. On iOS, notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service. On Android, notifications are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging. We do not use this information for advertising, behavioral profiling, or tracking you across apps or websites.
Push notifications are optional. You can enable or disable them through the app and your device’s Settings app.
When you disable notifications and reopen the app, the app asks our server to delete its device registration. We also remove a registration when Apple or Google informs us that its notification token is no longer valid. The registration is not connected to a name or account.
Our public website uses Google Analytics to help us understand aggregate website use. Google Analytics may process information such as pages viewed, browser and device information, referring pages, approximate location derived from an IP address, and cookies or similar browser identifiers.
Google Analytics is not included in our installed mobile applications. For information about how Google handles data, see Google’s Privacy Policy.
When the website or app communicates with our services, our hosting systems may record operational information including an IP address, user-agent information, requested path, timestamp, response status, and error details. We use these logs to operate, secure, monitor, and troubleshoot our services. Operational logs are retained for up to 30 days.
We use service providers to operate these services:
These providers process information to supply their respective services. We require service providers handling information for us to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable privacy requirements.
Links for submitting anonymous tips, making donations, or accessing other organizations may open an external website or service. For example, tips may be handled by P3 Tips and donations may be handled by PayPal. Information submitted to an external service is governed by that service’s privacy policy. Rockford Area Crime Stoppers does not receive your payment-card information from PayPal.
We do not sell personal information. We share information with the service providers described above only as needed to operate our services. We may also disclose information if required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect our services, rights, users, or the public.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Our services are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through our mobile applications.
We may update this policy when our services or privacy practices change. We will publish the updated policy on this page and revise its effective date.
